To care for silk, hand-wash in cold water with a delicate detergent, avoiding harsh rubbing or twisting. For machine washing, use a mesh bag, cold water, and a gentle cycle. Dry by laying flat, avoiding direct sunlight. Steam or iron on a low setting while slightly damp.
New, brightly colored, or natural fibre clothing often bleeds dye during the first wash because of excess, unbonded surface dye. To prevent damage, wash new garments separately in cold water.
